When does the customer sign?

During booking, on their own phone, as a required step before payment completes. Making it a checkout step rather than a door step is what removes the possibility of an unsigned entry, since there is no employee at the door to check.

How do initials on individual clauses work?

Specific clauses — assumption of risk, no coaching supervision, equipment condition — can each require typed or drawn initials rather than one signature at the bottom. Each initialed clause is timestamped and stored with the signature, which is what makes the record hold up as evidence the person actually read that clause.

What about minors and families?

A parent or guardian signs on behalf of each minor, and the waiver is stored against the minor's profile with the guardian named. Under a family membership each child has their own profile, so a signature covers that child specifically rather than a household in general.

What has to be in the record?

The full text the person actually agreed to, their signature and any initials, a timestamp, and a link to the person and the booking. Storing only 'waiver: yes' is worthless in a dispute, because the document will have changed since.

Version the document. When you change the waiver text, existing records must keep pointing at the version that was signed, not the current one.
